Celebrating 10 Years of Lord Chambray: A Decade of Craft Beer Excellence

Introduction

In 2014, the D'Imperio family founded Lord Chambray brewery with a bold vision: to bring the world of craft beer to Malta. At the time, the Maltese beer market was dominated by mass-produced brewery producing only lager for over 80 years. Against this backdrop, we aimed to introduce a diverse range of high-quality craft beers to the island. The journey wasn't easy, but our passion for brewing and commitment to excellence helped us overcome the challenges. Today, we proudly stand as Malta's first craft brewery, bringing innovation and quality to the local beer scene.

Over the past decade, we've achieved numerous milestones shaping our journey. In 2023, we introduced Malta's first craft beer in a can, revolutionising how our beers reach our customers. We've collaborated with renowned breweries, earning over 20 international awards for our gluten-free and vegan beers. We're one of the first European craft breweries certified ISO 9001:2015. Our facilities have expanded from 200 sqm to over 1000 sqm, and we've significantly reduced our CO2 use by self-producing nitrogen. Our annual production has increased from 1600 hl to over 3000 hl, a testament to our growth and success. We couldn't have done it without your support, and we're proud to have you as part of our journey.

Signature Beers

At Lord Chambray, we take immense pride in our year-round favourites. The first few recipes from 2014—San Blas, Blue Lagoon, and Golden Bay—remain our best sellers. San Blas, in particular, has garnered 11 international awards, a testament to its exceptional quality and taste.

Our special edition and seasonal brews have also made a mark. Sylvia has been a standout for our seasonal brew, which is made with local organic lemons and oranges in collaboration with Magic Rock Brewing in the UK. These limited-edition beers showcase our creativity and commitment to using unique ingredients and innovative brewing techniques.

Sustainability Efforts

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Lord Chambray. Our self-produce nitrogen minimises our environmental impact. Our packaging design for 3 and 12 packs follows the principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling, using minimal materials to further our sustainability goals. We're not just a brewery, we're a movement towards a greener, more sustainable future, and we're grateful to have you on board.

Our commitment extends to supporting local agriculture and the Gozo and Malta community. Our beers incorporate local fruits like lemons, oranges, strawberries, melons, and sea salt. We proudly sponsor Popp's Events, a local craft and artisanal store that supports local artists and vendors, reflecting our dedication to fostering community and local talent.

Events and Festivals

Over the years, we've hosted and participated in numerous events and festivals that have brought together beer enthusiasts from near and far. From craft beer master classes and beer pairing events to craft beer festivals in Malta and worldwide, we've created memorable experiences for our community. Our beer-tasting workshops, fundraising events, and in-house celebrations have cemented our place as a vibrant hub for craft beer lovers.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we're excited about the future. We are now transitioning from plastic kegs to stainless steel reusable ones, furthering our sustainability commitment. We're also looking to expand our reach beyond Malta, thanks to the acquisition of our canning technology, which allows us to transport our beers more cost-effectively.

Our vision for the next decade is clear: continue innovating and maintaining our commitment to quality and sustainability. We aim to grow our presence in Malta and globally, sharing our passion for craft beer with a broader audience and being recognised as a proud Malta product.
