Celebrating Success: Lord Chambray Triumphs in Korea 

During his recent trip to Korea, our founder Samuele proudly represented Malta's craft beer scene and brought home three medals in the Gluten-Free category. It's an honour to announce that Drum Roll, Sylvia, and San Blas stood out among fierce competition, showcasing the excellence and innovation of our brewery. 

Gold Medal: Drum Roll - This Belgian beer, infused with local rosemary, crafted in collaboration with Teo Musso of Baladin, Italy, captivated judges with its unique flavour.

Silver Medal: Sylvia - Our seasonal citrus pale ale, brewed with local oranges and lemons, impressed with its refreshing taste and vibrant aroma.

Bronze Medal: San Blas - Our signature English IPA, a timeless classic and recipient of numerous international accolades, continues to shine on the global stage.

Beer competitions serve as a platform for breweries worldwide to showcase their finest creations and compete for recognition. These events are meticulously organised by beer associations, where expert judges evaluate entries based on strict criteria: 

Appearance: Judges assess the beer's colour and foam, offering insights into its visual appeal.

Aroma: The scents emitted by the beer are carefully evaluated, providing clues about its flavour profile.

Taste: Judges discern flavour profiles that align with the standards of the beer's category, evaluating the harmony between flavour and aroma.

Overall Assessment: Judges provide commentary on the beer's overall quality, offering valuable feedback to brewers.

Unlocking the Secrets of Beer Colour 

Ever wonder what gives beer its distinctive colour? The answer lies in the combination of malt types and toasting techniques used in brewing. Lightly roasted malts yield paler beers, while darker roasts produce richer, deeper hues. 

Craft Beer Colour Chart: A Feast for the Senses

Let's take a closer look at some of our signature brews and the ingredients that contribute to their captivating colours and taste profiles:

Blue Lagoon - Witbier: Pale malts give the beer a straw yellow colour; coriander seeds and orange peel do not influence the colour but give a refreshing taste with hints of citrus and spice.

Grand Harbour - Best Bitter: Slightly roasted malts give this beer its medium golden colour, while the hops boost the bitterness of this British pub beer. 

Red Dragon - Sour Ale: We used local hibiscus flowers to give this beer a light pink shade, and the strawberries reinforce the pink colour as they are harvested in the season’s pick. This sour ale has a sweet and tangy flavour, with hints of fresh local strawberries and peaches for a refreshing twist. 

Off-Road - Coconut Stout: Small quantities of darker malts can really influence the final colour of this beer: this is the case with our dark brown coconut stout infused with coconut flakes. This rich and flavourful brew hints at coffee and chocolate but stays sweet and smooth.
