How to taste craft beer, like a pro 🍻

There is a massive difference between drinking a beer, and tasting it. For starters, drinking a beer is what you do at a Maltese summer event, when it's scorching hot. Tasting, however, is a sensory experience. It's about slowing down, unlocking those hidden flavour notes, and understanding exactly what the brewer intended to create.  Tasting Guide to Master the art of Beer Tasting 1. The Setup: Glassware & Temperature Before you even think of opening a beer, you need to set the stage. Two rookie mistakes can ruin a premium craft, and thats drinking straight from the can, and serving it ice-cold.  The Glass: Pouring your beer into a glass releases carbonation and opens up the aromas. Reach for a proper glass and pour your beer allowing the liquid to breath and drive those aromatic notes straight to your nose with every sip. The Temperature: A good beer shouldn't be freezing cold. The extreme cold numbs the tastebuds and masks the flavours. It's recommended that your...

Sip, Paint, and Unwind: Creative Afternoons at the Lord Chambray Taproom

At Lord Chambray, we’ve always believed that great beer is best enjoyed in good company. Whether it’s a casual pint, a brewery tour, or a laid-back afternoon with friends, our Taproom in Xewkija has become a place where people gather to slow down, savour the moment, and connect.

And one of our favourite ways to bring people together? Sip & Paint, an experience that blends creativity, craft beer, and the easygoing atmosphere that makes the brewery feel like home.

What Is Sip & Paint? Creativity with a Craft Beer Twist

If you haven’t joined us yet, Sip & Paint is a guided painting session hosted in collaboration with Sip & Paint Malta. It’s designed for complete beginners, seasoned creatives, and anyone who simply wants a fun time. There’s no pressure, no expectations, and absolutely no need to “be good at art”. You just show up, take a sip, pick up a brush, and let the rest unfold.

Every session includes:

  • A 4-beer tasting flight, featuring a mix of our brews

  • A short behind-the-scenes brewery tour, where you get a glimpse of how our beers come to life

  • All painting materials provided, from brushes to canvas

  • Step-by-step guidance from Sip & Paint Malta’s instructor

By the time you’re halfway through your tasting flight, the brushstrokes start to loosen… in the best possible way.

Why Sip & Paint Belongs at the Brewery

There’s something special about hosting these sessions at Lord Chambray. The setting adds a character you can’t quite recreate anywhere else. The brewery atmosphere sets the tone for an afternoon that feels both cosy and inspiring.

And when the weather is right, we host our sessions outside, where the open-air backdrop makes the whole experience even more relaxing.

Sip & Paint here isn’t an art class. It’s a moment to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy Gozo’s craft-beer culture in the most creative way.

An Afternoon That Works for Everyone

What makes Sip & Paint so fun is how effortlessly it fits into different kinds of plans. It’s ideal for:

  • A chilled date

  • A group activity with friends

  • Something fun to do on a weekend trip to Gozo

  • A unique gift experience

  • A solo afternoon out when you need a break from the routine

And because you go home with your finished artwork, it’s an experience you can literally hang on your wall.

The Beers That Inspire the Brushstrokes

One of the best parts of the evening is the tasting flight, which can include all of your favourites. Each beer can be introduced by our knowledgeable Taproom team with a story, a flavour note, or a fun detail from the brewing process, turning the tasting into a guided journey.

The Perfect Gift: A Lord Chambray Experience

While our beer boxes and merchandise are always favourites, Sip & Paint has become a popular option for people looking to gift something more meaningful. It’s local, it’s memorable, and it’s an experience people talk about long after it’s over.

You can purchase or gift a session on the website and follow our socials to catch new dates as they’re announced.

Seasonal Sessions and Special Editions

Throughout the year, we host themed Sip & Paint evenings, from summer coastal scenes to autumn palettes inspired by Gozo’s landscape. And yes, this December brings a festive edition, complete with cosy vibes and winter-themed artwork to get you in the holiday mood.

If you’d like to join the Christmas session or book ahead for future ones, you can find all upcoming dates here: https://sipandpaintmalta.com/

See You at the Easel

Whether you’re an artist, a beer lover, or simply someone looking for a fun night out, Sip & Paint at Lord Chambray is one of those experiences that feels good every single time.

So grab a brush, settle in with your tasting flight, and enjoy a night where creativity meets craft beer, right here in the heart of Gozo.

Cheers to good company, good beer, and good stories shared over a canvas. 🍻🎨
